Can you share a photo of your alternator - this wires ???

Post by ItaBongo » Sun Sep 07, 2025 1:25 pm

I found the cause of what it’s draining my starter batteriy

The alternator

There’s 2 wires
- (a green/white) top wire in photo)
- (blue wire bottom wire )

If I remove the top (white /green) which has a constant 22V supply the drain from engine battery stops

The blue wire only gets current when ignition it’s tuned on

What’s the top wire for ??

I tried to run the engine without the top wire and getting well above 14V on the stater bare so I’m amusing the alternator it’s working as it should .

Can anyone please share a photo of your alternator wiring

Thanks

But you haven't told us which engine you have, it varies between diesel and petrol and also by year of van as parts have changed over the years.
It sounds like you have a faulty alternator regulator as one possibility.
