Cold start mechanism and random cable

Hi all!

Been having rough starts for a while and decided to investigate today

I have replaced the cold start solenoids and vacuum lines previously which didn't help at all.

I noticed this today, it seems the cold start mechanism engages and then springs back immediately, there is also no change in throttle or rpm when turning on A/C.

Also while looking around I noticed this cable hanging about, probably not related but looks like it's connected to a sensor, possibly the ECT sensor? Where would this plug into? Can't see anywhere at all it could go
