Stuck in gear, fans on, no glow plug light.

Hi all, my 1995 2.5 td Bongo is sparadically working. Sometimes I get in and it fires up fine, drives perfectly, other times I jump in, the coolant fan automatically comes on, the glow plug light doesn't illuminate and the gearbox is stuck in 3rd. I have done everything I can think of. Has anyone experienced this and managed to fix it?

Welcome aboard.
Not a set of symptoms I'm familiar with, but we may be able to suggest a Bongo Friendly garage near you.

i am from canada, i have the exact issue, i am unable to find any mechanic that deals with bongo here in canada. did you find out what was the issue with your van? thanks a lot

Hiya, not quite yet, we are going to change another part which connects to the gearbox, this is being done tomorrow, Tuesday September 24th. I'll let you know the outcome.

Hiya, so, reconditioned gear box fitted to the van (did not fix it) there's a gear selector piece which fits to the gearbox, that was done on Thursday 26th, so far so good but it's still early days.

so your gear selector was faulty or the actual gear box had issues?

At the moment it's looking like the gear selector.

Hi, at the moment yes, the fault was sparadic, the van could work for a few days and then not. As it's only been a few days i don't know if the part swop has cured thr problem yet.
