Undersealing - in the South/SW or North. It’s that time come round again!

Post by Treetalk » Sun May 19, 2024 12:17 pm

Hi everyone.

I haven’t been here for a while but hoping to get going going with my bongo again this year.

It’s time for another underseal, and I was wondering whether anyone had any recommendations. My Bongo is I believe in pretty good nick, so I don’t think it would be a complex job.

I was quoted by a company in Poole over the telephone “starting from” £1500 this week😮!

Would anyone have any recommendations for places that were more reasonable? I might even be prepared to travel, make a short holiday of it, If someone recommended somewhere. I can’t do it myself as I am technically and age-wise not up to it.

Thanks,

Mary Ann

We had some 'underneath' work done by Bongo Spares not long back.

The Malthouse, close by, has letting rooms, or the bus outside goes to Halifax where there’s cheap hotels.

Good to see you back. 8)

Thanks Bob. Whereabouts in the UK is Bongo Spares? Are you saying near Halifax, Yorkshire?

Yes, Rishworth, near Sowerby Bridge/Halifax.

Just as a side, I had mine black Waxoyled underneath with clear cavity wax.....topped up several sections over the last few years and ACF50, this year I have used Lanoshield/Lanoguard......went on really easy and looks and feels good....did the underneath, pipes, wheel arches, suspension arms, coils et al. Will see how it lasts but far easier than the Waxoyl especially without a full lift to get under it.

Just had mine waxoiled this morning by a local indy garage who does all my work, I supplied a gallon can and he removed the surface rust, sprayed and paintbrushed into some hard to get to bits, he's a mate it cost me £50 + £35 for the waxoil, however it just went through the MOT for the fourth time in my ownership last week and when we got in the pit underneath it a front shock had spewed its oily guts out so just ordered from bongo spares £200 quids worth of shocks and droplinks as I know if I order 1 sods law states the seals on the other will go soon too.
