Bongo Fury

Hi people, new member here! I've been searching loads of things on the forum, since getting my freda a couple of years ago. Very grateful for the excellent info available.
However we sadly broke down recently and I'm here for help!

The van 2.5 V6, stalled whilst driving along, we rolled to the side of the road. It would turn over but not fire up. I left it for 20 mins, then it fired up straight away, it ran smoothly but died after a few minutes. Again would turn over but not fire. Called RAC, they confirmed it had no spark going to the plugs when up to temp and stalling. He suspected a crank sensor was failing when hot.

Had the van transported home on a truckbed and I ordered a new crank sensor and installed, no difference! Signed up to BF and used the great info in the members area to be able to read fault codes.
P1345 - Signal from Camshaft position sensor
P1521 - VRIS solenoid, which from research seems it wouldn't cause this much issues.

From searching the forum, it seems the cam sensor is in the distributor, would this be prone to failing when hot and preventing a spark to the plugs? Is there anyway I can test this?

Yes its been reported before that they fail when hot, there are replacement ones on eBay https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_nkw= ... repair+kit Assuming this is of course the problem, probably best to get it checked out electrically first before buying a repair item!

Thanks for the link, is there a way I could test the signal from the sensor when its cold and then hot?

There isn't a lot of info on the sensor, my guess is it would be a solenoid or a semiconductor for detecting a magnet on the rotor, but there are other methods possible but the diagrams just treat it as a module top right below, it appears to have +12v (A), Earth (B) and the output lead going to the ECU (O). YOu would expect that a scope on the (O) lead might be a pulse
