Shudder when idling at low revs

Post by NLB2024 » Fri Feb 23, 2024 4:12 pm

So quick question, my 1996 2.5td starts first time, but when idle the revs seem to fall to around 600, which makes the whole bongo vibrate quite a bit. If I touch the accelerator and get it to 800 it's as smooth as can be, any one know how I get it to idle at 800 to solve the issue?

Advice appreciated !!

Thanks

Does it stay at 600rpm even after the engine has warmed up. If it does then you might suspect the cold idle solenoid being faulty. I have one of these on my Bongo

Apart from being able to use it as a cruise control of sorts, its handy for locking the throttle at any desired engine speed. Not really a proper solution but at least a workaround of sorts. I'm not technical enough to advise on adjusting tickover on the fuel pump etc I'm afraid
