Afternoon, does anyone know the torque setting for the 2 x nuts that hold the thermostat flange on to the engine? Thanks

looks like 19-25N-m or 1.9-2.6kgf-m

Wondering if i need to drain the entire system to do this, it says on that page to drain it but as its near the top i would assume i can just catch whatever comes out as best i can and then refill the expansion tank.

Well the 2l is self bleeding so its not so bad to refill it and clear the engine of air, so maybe drain it and save the coolant to later refill maybe ?

Purchased an OE thermostat (no gasket supplied), took the old one off and the original seal/gasket fell to bits with most welded onto the thermostat housing, had to scrape the old one off. Thought I could bodge it but no, purchased an MX5 housing gasket (same as Bongo it seems) and all is good again, up to temp quickly once more. Parked van on slope so minimal coolant loss and no need to drain system, couple of times round the block and a small top up all sorted.
