Hi all
I've just taken the beast (1996, 2.5 diesel auto) out in the dark which I've not done for a month or so. The front headlights (full and main) suddenly started cutting out for 10 seconds or so before kicking back in.
The side lights appear to stay on all the time. Started happening down a very dark road too. Scared me to death.
They come and go, but feel like they get worse.
I was thinking it might be either a fuse about to go, or a loose wire.
Any suggestions or advice before I start climbing under the dash?
Olly

Re: Lights cutting out
Check the three pin H4 connectors on the back of the lights themselves they have a habit of getting dirty, then overheat and melt the plastic. If that is the case then replace them with ceramic versions from eBay is the simplest and cheapest option. https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from ... s&_sacat=0

Thanks Geoff.
It's both lights at once though, left and right, main and full.

Re: Lights cutting out
Yes not uncommon they use a common earth. If the connectors are OK, then suspect the relay on the nearside bonnet wing its the rear most relay of a possible 4 (often only 2 or 3 are fitted depending on options).
Re: Lights cutting out
Thanks. Yes I did think about an earth issue this morning.
I should add that the full beam indicator on the dash never goes out. Even when the full beams are off the indicator light glows gently.
Will check the connectors, relay and follow back to the earth point.
