Hi is it possible to remove the lighter socket from the front instead of removing the plastics, asking as I think there is a wire off at the back of the socket. Got power to the radio. Thank you

Yes its meant to be removed from the front, but its fiddly getting your fingers around the plastic sliding bit to release it!
Locked position; Unlocked sliding off; Hanging out, but plastic clip broke in process! Normally slides back down the body and off once wires are released;

I found it quite easy to pull out, a plug usually comes in handy and a bit of heavy handedness

Not sure looks like a simple tap onto the Ancillaries supply! The images aren't from my own van actually merely the ones I located when trying to get mine out!

Hi everyone, sorry reopen an old thread, but I'm struggling to get this out. Any tips and tricks to getting the metal bit slide forward from the front?

Have you managed to release the clip on the rear ? as well as the cables obviously.

I think that's the bit I'm missing. It's difficult to see what's going on while upside down in the foot well, but I've not been able to feel/see what I'm trying to unlock. Is the clip visible on the images above? I'm not sure what I'm looking for.

Yes the green plastic bit that surrounds the body, it has two press clips that release the plastic tube to allow you to rotate it and then slide it off the the body, then the main body pulls out from the front of the hole.

So I can see/feel those clips and 1 seems to go in easy and the other feels solid. Is it just a case of gripping it harder do you think? They are difficult to get much purchase on. sorry for all the questions on something that feels a bit simple!

I've only done mine once and, it was several years ago now! It is certainly fiddly. I used my camera phone to inspect and video it first then planned what I needed to press and then twist/turn the green tube to release the entire unit.

You have clocked the need to press in both buttons ?

Hi Geoff, that's it, yes. I can see both of those. One goes down quite easily, the other seems solid. Do you think I need to rotate it to get both to go in? I'll have another go. Thank you!

When I say rotate its the green bit that seems to need to rotate as I recall around the body of the socket, I think then the metal has holes to allow the buttons to be depressed down into hence releasing the body itself.

Thanks Geoff, I managed to gently lever it out in the end with some plastic spudgers. Even with it out and disconnected I couldn't rotate or slide the green bit it was jammed fast. All fixed though now, and many thanks for your assistance.
