Intro and speaker advice

Hello fellow owners.

I'm a very happy new owner and have discovered this forum whilst searching for various answers so have now joined and hope to be helpful to others as I start my build.

In the next few weeks I'll be fitting solar panels and control box to run several things such as a fridge from the leasure battery but I'll start another separate thread for that when we begin.

After searching the forum it seems that the front speaker depth causes issues when upgrading. I have purchased a decent sony single din DAB head unit to replace the ancient one and I'm now looking at a 10" pre amped sub and front and rear speakers and possibly dash mount tweeters to go with it while we are re wiring so its all done together.

Sadly no audio centre local to Norwich anymore so online but if anyone could tell me of any speakers that fit directly that would be great. Only thread I could find was 5years ago and those OCD132 speakers no longer exist.

Thankyou Adam

I redone mine last week after upgrading everything 3 years ago.

I blew both of my front door speakers and both were broken in similar places :-k
I had my suspicions that it may have been caused by a plastic ring that protrudes out on the inside of the door card?

Seems I can only add 3 pics to a post so I'll have to make a few posts :-o

I ground off the plastic and added gutter bolts to the edges of the speaker mounting plates just incase they were in contact before.

Said I'd update the amp for a newer smaller one while I was at it. I never liked having the amp on display and there wasn't really anywhere suitable to hide it.

The amp I got is 5 channel so I can power a sub now as well as the front and rear speakers. Came with a bass remote which as it turns out is kinda handy.
Fits in the glovebox, I will need to raise up off the plastic for cooling purposes, I may make a bracket and place it under the glovebox in the future.

Temporary 10" sub I had in the garage, looking for a shallow mount setup to place under the sliding rear seats.

Overall its a great improvement over the first setup. Also I bought it all second hand so it worked out cheap.

Thankyou for the reply, the sub I've seen is pre amped and the head unit is reasonably powerful so I'm hoping to only need the front and rear speakers I'll be removing the door cards towards the end of the week to have a good look. So the speakers fit without fouling the window mechanism they and the modification you did was to prevent splitting?

You can get spacers to put in the front doors so that more speakers will fit. Can't remember the size or anything as it was several years ago we did ours.

As far as I remember I removed the stock front speakers from the plastic spacer they were mounted to and reused that along with the mount that came packaged with the speakers.

Also, most aftermarket stereos are outputting around 4x50w - that's peak power, what they are actually outputting in 25w RMS which isn't a whole pile.

Also, I somehow forgot to welcome you to the forum :-)

Hahaha no worries was looking for an intro section but maybe missed it. Thankyou for the advice perhaps a separate amp would be a better route then its all done in one go with the solar panel wiring etc. Never joined a car forum before I'm a biker and bought the bongo as a trackday van which I could also take the family in very versatile vehicle. How do I post pictures please ?

I'm a 2 hour drive from a track so I don't bother, been meaning to do some track day training alright so that might persuade me into getting a track bike.

Just bike on the roads and this is my little toy bike.
I put on these little pirelli diablo corsa scooter tyres and it's some laugh on the backroads

Have it taxed and insured too so I can ride it wherever

That would be hilarious on a go kart track. What's the real bike then? I've got a 675 Daytona for the roads. I'm only 30 mins from snetterton lucky boy and Cadwell isn't too far. Now I've got the bongoI plan on doing more further afield as I can lock the bike outside and put the over mattress on the floor and have a fridge etc . Best thing I've bought can't wait to get cracking on it.

I'm actually currently bike shopping, I had a k7 gsxr 600 on the road.
I'm covered on the brothers R1 and 954 so I still get to get out for a spin as the tnt can't really keep up :-s
