Best place for an ignition switched live

Post by sotal » Wed Apr 24, 2019 8:36 pm

Just installed a Toguard rearview mirror dash cam and reversing camera.

The whole lot works perfectly and was relatively easy to install.

My only dislike is that it plugs in to the cigarette lighter socket. Part of the problem with this is that I want to use that for something else, the other part of the problem is that it is wired up to the leisure battery so it doesn't turn off/on with the ignition. I have to pull it out/ remember to plug it in.

I want it to be 'fit and forget' so will hardwire it. I just need a suitable switched live from the ignition. Is there anywhere easy to pick this up from?

I’d put a “add a circuit/ piggy back fuse” on something like the electric windows

Simple but effective

That'll do the trick.

Might try and put the radio on the ignition too, is annoying having it on the LB, but useful when away camping so as not to drain the main battery. I'm sure I've looked in to a switch for the stereo before and it wasn't as easy as I'd hoped.
