My key opens and closes all the doors via central locking but it will only unlock the sliding door not lock it, it only fits the passengers/tailgate but dosent turn to lock/unlock,do i need a seperate key or has something jammed

my key opens and locks all doors on me bongo......so sounds like your locks are faulty/jammed or you have different locks on your bongo?

Sounds like you have a 'valet key', not the proper one. A valet key allows a valet parking guy (think US hotels and restaurants) to drive the car and lock it, but not get to any valuables in the boot, glovebox etc.

My real locksmith (i.e. not Timpsons) explained this to me when I was trying to get a key cut.

A real locksmith can cut a full key from the key number that will open all the doors.

Well you learn something new every day. I had never heard of a valet key before. My key fits all the locks on my Bongo, but when I tried to get one cut from a small kiosk on Harlow market, it wouldn't fit no matter how much I tried wriggling it about or pulling it in and out. It looks absolutely identical to the original, at least to the naked eye. I still need a spare key, so I will try a good locksmith next time.
