just a few questions

Post by GOW » Tue Aug 21, 2018 8:03 pm

part 1

I got myself a Bongo in May it is a 1997 2.5d conversion. Everything was going good and the Bongo life was awesome then I started getting cold start problems about a month ago. I replaced the glow plug relay on the advise of a mechanic {he also checked the glow plug and said the where working fine } I'm not sure where the fusible link is because of rewiring {photo attached }

The mechanic suggested that I fit a switch to heat the glow plugs up first before starting the engine but I am not sure of the safest way to do this .

Part 2

Then last week as I was coming home the temp gauge shot up to full and I started hearing a gargle coming from the front and the engine . When I looked under the bonnet the coolant tank was bubbling away and spitting out fluid .After some reading I came to the conclusion I have air in the system so I would bleed the coolant system however when I went to do this I have no bleed hose {photo attached }

What would be the best way to install a bleed hose or is there another way round it ?

Part 3

So today I went to check the glow plug with a multi meter just to be 100% they are working and found this {photo attached }

Looked like thee pipe had been glued on but surely that no right , I also don't know what this part is to order a new one .

Thank you in advance just want to get back to my Bongo life :D

Kind Regards Simon /Inverness Scotland

If you do a search for cold and start and solenoids using the tab at the top there will be loads of good reading. Use the and, it finds the words better.
