need oil leak identification

Hello, could anyone help me identify this leak please? It's at the back, dripping very slowly down the side of the orange pipe onto the spare tyre and then floor. Its not big and i think it may have been going on for a few weeks at least,(i thought it was an old stain on the drive) i have been using the van.

Hi.

Have you got a sink/kitchen unit above the leak?

It could be something from that, or a cupboard, running down until it finds that hole.

And the orange 'pipe' looks suspiciously like a bit of mains cable passing through metal work with no grommet. Hopefuly I'm wrong, but if that is mains it's very dangerous as it will chafe through and electrify your Bongo.

I also wondered if it was a cable rather than pipe. To me it looks like the holes for that and the waste pipe have been punched through with a screwdriver rather than drilled and a gromit inserted. (or maybe it's time to go back to specsavers?)

it's an oily substance coming through even though the kitchen is above it. I didnt know what could be that far back that could leak oil (i know very little about them really i'm afraid). i have no idea if it is a cable, i will try to have a look. the oil is dripping down the side of the orange tube, from out of the hole. what could leak oil at the back?

Are you sure that something hasn't spilled or leaked in the kitchen area, it certainly looks like a drip coming from the hole itself and dripping down.
I wonder who did the conversion ?

The conversion has been there many years. We got it last year and had to update the electrics as our starter battery kept draining. and we treated all the holes that had been made with that special coating stuff. Its not too bad under there, had it checked out and all is sound. We took the units out and replaced the floor with ply and lino and everything looked sound.
You maybe right i may have spilt or leaked some washing up liquid or something.

I'd be looking for something spilled or cooking residue before thinking it's vehicle related.

Bear in mind the source could be some distance from the hole, just running to that as the only/lowest exit point.

We're at the Anchor, High Offley, at the end of August if you want me to take a look. 27th to 3 Sept.

Also, scratching my head, I wonder if someone has used some mastic/tar type substance/adhesive during the conversion and it's melting with the current heat?

I thought that too Bob, because it is very near where the holes are. Thank you for the offer of a check but i have it booked in with Bongospares on the 10th for a service and general health check. I was just worried about getting it all the way up there in one piece!

I'm sure you will be fine, I can't think it's engine or gearbox oil, or owt else vehicle related.

Maybe Have a chat about a good spare wheel too while your at bongospares. That one under there looks past its best.
