HI.
My 2.5 V6 Bongo sounds like it has a shifting problem. Between about 45mph and 55mph it feels like it has shifted too earlier and the engine 'judders'. It is also idling erratically, occasionally well below 1000rpm. Plus, the exhaust is smoking and smells quite strongly of petrol until warmed up.
My local garage said they couldnt carry out full diagnostics, but changed the spark plugs. Before they did that, the stalling feeling was happening when pulling away from stationary, now it is up nearer 45mph (as above). They also changed the air filter and said the old one stank of fuel.
Everything feels fine at other speeds, including a 100 mile journey on the motorway at 80mph last night.
Is there any point getting some new caps and leads, or should I maybe take it straight to a specialist for a diagnostic check? ADS in Bristol probably.
Thanks

I think you need to get your vehicle to someone who can sort the engine issue out - it shouldn't smell of fuel. I suspect if this is done the the shifting issues may well disappear.
