The Scavenger fan is the one situated directly infront of the engine pointing upwards, it pushes air thru the engine bay. It mainly comes on when static and the normal airflow has stopped hence causing the engine bay itself to heat up.
The engine cooling fans are the ones behind the radiator which draw air in to cool the radiators, they also come on when the air con is selected to ensure that the air con radiator receives sufficient cooling.

Thanks for the advice will check the temp sensor when I get home the other thing I’ve noticed since the fans started coming on when cold is when I turn the engine on it clicks straight away to say say the glow plugs are warmed ready as before there was a 10 second delay while they warmed up ?

do you run self diagnostic? what lamp "glow plug" or "hold" show you?
now my bongo light lamp "glow plug" apr 10 sec...than light "off" - after I start engine...NOTE-glow plug heated to temp apr. 50C, in this case lamp "glow plug" - "off" too....if i disconnect temp sensor on block - glow plug be warm up apr 30sec, without looking temp sensor

fans come on auto when the starter battery is low or duff, they stay on because the glow plugs are on and still drawing from the duff starter batt, when the glow plugs go off the starter batt recovers enough to switch off the fans.
check alternator and battery voltages. you may even have a glow plug that is shorting out or low resistance, and pulling too much amps pulling the starter batt down.
