Power loss, cut out but recovers

Post by Ellied02 » Tue Dec 05, 2017 10:01 pm

Hi,

New to the Bongo and just got a 1995 diesel 4WD. Starts first turn of the key and runs really well. Sometimes after about 30 minutes driving it starts to misfire, looses power (accompanied by what looks like some white smoke). Sometimes it recovers, but occasional it has slowed until the engine stops. After as little as 20 seconds it will start and run fine for the rest of the journey. It's not loosing coolant and the temperature gauge stays steady with no signs of overheating.

Any ideas?

Cheers.

you have air into fuel....for check - instal transparent hoses on fuel pump at "in" and "out"....than search when air absorbed in fuel sistem...if you see air into "in" - check fuel tube, filtr, tank, if you see air into "out" - check seal on nose and head of fuel pump

Thanks cutlass, I'll check that - but now the dopey question, how do I get to the fuel pump - do I need to remove the cover between the front seat - and if so is there an easy way?
