High idle on 2.0L?

Post by Flanners » Thu Nov 30, 2017 12:57 pm

I have a had a good look through old posts and most cover the TD or V6, mine is a 2.0 2002. I have a high idle 1100-1250rpm when the car is warmed and in N or P. When cold the idle is 1400-1500rpm so does drop. I had a few issues with the Gearbox searching for gears/excess revs; the fitting of a new Throttle Body has rectified that but still have the high revs. There are I am told no fault codes in the ECU. The revs do drop to 700-850 when placed in D with foot on the brake.

I guess I need to look at the ICV (or equivalent), piping etc. On my MG TF when fitting a new TB there was a reset procedure with the ignition and pressing the accelerator 3 times to reset the stepper/TPS etc. Is there such a procedure on the Bongo?

Most problems on the Forum seem to be low or stuttering revs at idle with the Bongo, mine is actually the reverse. Is there an idle trim screw, think this is factory set and not to be messed with? Will check pipework for leaks later etc.

Any pointers appreciated.
