Vacuum takeoff (2L Petrol)

Hi.
I'm fitting a Waeco MS50 cruise control unit to my tin top. I have worked out how to attach the throttle cable and I'm fairly comfortable with the wiring. However, not so sure on the vacuum pick up.
Does anyone with a 2L petrol know of a convenient tap point preferably near the the throttle cable assembly? I've studied the excellent Lushprojects diagrams, but the vacuum plumbing jumps all over the place across many pages.
Any instructions on the method of stalk mounting the control also gratefully received
Thanks!

Not familiar with the 2 ltr, but someone may well know.

I spent an evening studying the diagrams on lushprojects.com
I think the take off should be from 4340/43-836 on the front of the inlet manifold.

This feeds the brake assist, so I assume constant vacuum is available at that point.
Rather nervous as I'll have to cut the pipe and use a T-piece. So if I get it wrong it'll be a right pain to sort.

Understand your caution.
On the diesel there's no need to cut, there's a take off in front of the engine.

Yes, unfortunately the petrols do not have this.
Would have made life much easier!

The safest way to do it is, remove existing pipe from where you intend to take the vac, use a small piece of pipe fit T piece then fit original uncut pipe to T piece. If there is a problem simply remove the adapters and fit original uncut pipe .
Good Luck.

Good idea, tricky bit is going to be finding a small piece of pipe of the same size
Mind you, if I can get the pipe off, I should be able to check a vacuum is present

It's in a rather awkward spot though. Wish me luck!

I am not sure but does the kit not come with the correct pipe/hose.
As a matter of interest did you contact your Insurance Company regarding the DIY fitting of Cruise Control to your vehicle as this can be seen as a Heavy Modification. If so did they stipulate any conditions.
Good Luck.

Yes, I contacted the insurance firm. No increase in cost, but hit with the usual £25 "admin fee".
I waited until the Toad AI606 and GPS tracker were fitted to stack up the changes

Fitted mine, along with air spring assisters and a couple of other minor things just before renewal.
Informed insurers of mods and asked if they wanted to continue with cover at the same price or should I shop around (which I always do anyway).

Same price as previous year.
