Oil Level Sensor

Can anyone help with where I ca find the wiring diagram for the Oil Level Sensor? Or where the sensor connects into the loom? I am assuming the "thing" I am referring to is an old level sensor. It is located on the side of the oil sump above the drain plug. It has two wires and a plug attached - but at the moment not plugged into anything!
I have seen mention of an oil level sensor in the forum so assume this is not an aftermarket addition.
Thanks
Giles

Hi g8dhe
Thanks. I have poured over the wiring diagrams but I cannot find this sensor. Are you able to point me in the right direction/page?
Thanks
Giles

? You don't say what engine you have so .......
but if you go to the Index

look under "O" for Oil and there listed there, then click the link and it takes you to the circuit, click the next page

and it shows where the connector is located.
You could also look on the Mechanical diagrams for your engine and version

Hi.
I am very new to Bongos so don't know whats standard on all models as I only have experience of my 95 Diesel but would be surprised if there was a level sensor as standard. More than happy to be proved wrong as every day is a school day
What it could be is an aftermarket oil temperature sensor, This is a common location for oil temperature sensor as you want to know how hot the oil is entering the engine. Mostly used in Motorsport and tuned / modified engines though guess it would be useful to know with our vulnerable diesel engines too.
Cheers

The diesel has both level and pressure, but the petrol versions only have pressure.

Well I said I wasn't an expert and happy to be told I am wrong

Sorry.
Do all Diesels have a level switch or was it just later models.
How does it indicate the low level?
Genuinely interested as I haven't noticed anything on mine and think it would be really good to know.
Cheers

All three versions from 1995 to 2000 seem to have the same complement of sensors, diesels having both and petrol having only pressure. You can check easily enough by looking in the Index of the circuit diagrams under "O" for oil

The latter (after 1999) may not have the Low Oil Sensor owing to the change in the engine crankcase sump arrangement.
If fitted the Low oil Level is Indicated by the Oil Warning Lamp on the dash (instrument cluster)
Good Luck
