Interior Rear Main Cabin Light Replacement

Post by Baggie Bongo » Fri Mar 03, 2017 11:20 am

I was just wondering if anybody has ever replaced the main rear interior cabin light? I have seen a lot of cool modern replacements on ebay but i'm unsure if this can be done or how easy this would be to fit?

Yes, there are two types of main cabin light a straight tube or the "U" tube type.
You can get replacement tubes but at a price.....
or for the straight type there are cheaper LED replacement tubes, which are a direct fit,
or you can replace with a an LED panel as in this link http://www.g8dhe.net/bongo_images/repla ... cent_tube/

The replacement LED tubes seem like a nice simple upgrade for the light , I've already replaced the front courtesy bulbs with LEDs ( I think ?) and they give a much better light :D
Would you have a code or product number for these g8dhe , basically so they can be got from Amazon or 12volt planet etc ?
Thanks
Brian
PS its the straight type I'm interested in

Here is one on Amazon https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00 ... ge_o02_s00
I d believe the shop has the original tubes in stock as well the straight one is a good price as well http://bongoland.co.uk/product-category/lighting/
The LED's are sort of OK, but unlike a tube they don't send the light out in all directions so the roof itself is poorly illuminated making it look darker, all the light gets sent out angled downwards.

Thanks for the post g8dhe
I've looked at the Amazon link and the reviews are poor and I didn't know About the light only facing down so I might stick with the original as to be fair WHEN it light it's good , mine seems to have a mind if it's win :D
Thanks again

What's actually wrong then ? If its intermittent on turning on it could be as simple as a dirty switch ? If the ends of the tube show signs of darkening then that would indicate that the tube is on its way out, on the otherhand in this cooler weather it can take a while for the tube itself to warm up and can be a bit dim to start with till the phosphor coating on the inside is warmer.
