Roller Blinds

I was attempting to piggy back a connection from wiring to the switch on the O/S front window's roller blind, when somehow I heard a click and lost the power to all of the blinds, checked the fuses (6 & 7) seem ok, is there anything else I could have blown?

Well other than popping the 60Amp Ignition fuse under the bonnet, that protects EVERYTHING controlled via the Ignition switch no!
However where were you trying to tap into ? Other than at the fuses and wiring to the first switches on the dashboard, you can't sensibly pickup a supply at any other point ?

How did you check the fuses, with a meter or visually ?

Checked fuses with a meter,ok, trying to connect to the wires going into the blind switch behind drivers seat using Scotchlock connectors.Definitely heard a pop like a fusing blowing, is there an inline fuse anywhere? Neither the dashboard switches or individual switches make the blinds work which seems strange because if either fuse 6 or 7 had blown surely one side or the other would work but both fuses are ok. Everything else seems to work, could I have blown a connection somewhere?

Right, no in line fuses to blow in a standard setup.
Given that none of the 4 blinds are working but that everything else is OK (you have checked ALL other circuits work ?) then I would start looking at the single common earth connection from the dashboard switches (Black wires) down to Earth point 7 via the X25 connector.
Why were you trying to tap into the blinds out of interest ? Beyond the switches the polarity of the wires is changed to enable up/down so you can't use those feeds for any other purpose and they are all grounded when no switch is operated anyway.

Where is Earth Point 7 and connector X25? Everything else works.

Sorted, took off fuse panel to see if any obvious faults and discovered another fuse block with two 15 amp fuses, one blown, stopped them over, bingo!, now the remote central locking doesn't work but I have an idea when I get a replacement fuse that will work. Many thanks for your help, I think the wife might let me move back into the house now.

Sounds like someone has perhaps done a LB wiring job on the rear of the existing fuseblock then, this is the problems with converted vehicles the electrics often get played with and no documentation. The engine and mechanicals rarely get serioulsy altered but everyone likes to play electrician

It's a very good point Geoff, I've kept notes in a little notebook of the many electrical changes I've made, both as a memory aid for me later and also potentially as an "owners manual amendment" for the next owner.
Luckily mine was pretty unmessed with before I got my hands on it.

Can anyone tell me if the blinds can be wired in a way that they do not go through the ignition ?
I find it a bit of a pain having to switch the ignition on whenever I want to put the rear blinds up or down.

Don't forget the blinds can be operated manualy.

Just push/pull gently, no harm will be done.

Yes, this is the normal setup if you have a LB, you remove the two existing fuses, move them to a new fuse box and wire that to the LB, if you don't have a LB then wire it back to the main SB - but be aware using them a lot of times when on a fixed site for several days might give you a problem when you go to start! This is the reason most people fit LB etc.
