Hi
I was out in the city today, and looked in at the DIY store, and in the locksmith's cubicle I spotted just the jobbie for door deadlocks...very similar to the old Lander locks where an arm swings over to latch into the door-pillar. On the outside, all you see is a 20 mm or thereabouts key escutcheon, and the latch fits behind. I'll measure up the Bongo to see suitability , but they are 8 Leva...somewhere around £3.50 each....hell, I don't know what they cost last time I bought them, but I've fitted them to minis, and my old Type 2 engine hatch....VERY effective!....Would anyone be interested????? If so, I don't know what post would cost, or I could courier a batch if there's any interest???
Cheers
Helen

Re: Security locks
Interesting post Helen. I'm curious. How do you use it to lock all doors?

Re: Security locks
Hi Mike...
It's similar to a deadlock...but a bar swings over...They are locked one at a time...if you're only driving it solo, leave the rest locked and use only the drivers. It stops anyone getting in, but they do need some careful precision cutting to make a slot in the door and pillar inside of the door rubber.
Sorry Jilly, no link, but I'm going in to the city next week, and I'll take a snapshot.
I haven't seen this type of lock in years, so they caught my eye, as most locks nowadays are those crap eurolocks, which are designed by the criminal underworld to provide easy entry.
Anyway, it's a smashing bit of extra security, but it won't stop a low-loader...but , then , Bongos are only cheap cars, and unlikely to attract the attention of a serious thief looking for profit......only the "have a go Joe" yobbos.
Cheers

Cheers Helen. Probably too much hassle for me but a great idea regardless.
