Welcome aboard.
Can you let us know the age of your Bongo? Newer ones have fancier electrics.

upto 2001 sept (also after looks like) (diesel only)
fuse 8 radio cigarete sockets and mirrors
fuse 1 also radio and lots of other things including the ECU.
if fuse one is blown you will get the engine error flash
the sockets have rather weedy wiring and should Not be used for electric pump (bet youv'e guessed that all ready

Hi, thanks for your replies so far. The age of the bongo is a 96 diesel. It is fuse 8 that has gone & we attempted to change it. The warning light that is flashing is the one that looks like a coil (the one you wait to go out before you start it) so it may not be the scavenger fan but it looked like that in the manual.

Pretty sure that light is just to show the glow plugs are warming, but we have an electrical expert.
Geoff will know.

If the glowplug light is Flashing then that means that the ECU is reporting a fault.
Check to the top left fuse, as that is the backup supply, if its not that then you need to use the factsheet in the Members area or this web site to get a read out of the error number

There is no reason why the air pump should have blown the top left fuse, the top right one yes also possibly the one on the back of the socket itself;
A web site with all the fuse types, locations, purposes and circuits affected along with the lamps and wiring diagrams is here

Many thanks for replies. Unfortunately have now replaced both 1 and 8 fuses but problem still persists - no cigar lighter and no radio. Diagnostic chart looks a bit daunting! Any alternative thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks again for latest assist. Yes, despite changes of fuses the coil warning light is still flashing. Presumably the fact that both cigar lighter and radio are not working rules out the possibility of the back fuse in the lighter being the problem? All was well until I tried pumping up the tyres - pump suddenly stopped working after a couple of minutes! Can't be sure that the coil had not been flashing before but I certainly hadn't noticed it. Despite useful Youtube videos still rather daunted by diagnostic codes - and at the moment do not have a LED to follow the instructions in the clip. Will keep trying!

Any small 12 volt bulb can be used you don't have to use an LED its makes it more difficult, any dashboard style light is fine (not headlights or sidelights!)
Have you checked all your other electrical circuits ? Do they work, internal lights, dashboard back lights, indicators etc.
