Kenwood DDX 6027 or 6029.

Easy to fit, works a treat.

Budget?

Not sure of your budget,

But it looks as if you may be in the market for a serious head unit.

This may be pushing your budget but have you thought of including Navigation ??

Pioneer avic-x1r is a great sounding unit

http://www.pioneer.co.uk/uk/products/AV ... print.html

Full european mapping, reads the map DVD into memory and gives you directions while you play a dvd instead.

All the input and outputs you'll need

Or without the Nav option have a look at Alpines newest version of their DVD player

http://www.alpine-europe.com/content/en ... -Units.htm

Again a great sounding unit

I have the old version DVA-7996 and it hasn't failed me in years of car audio competitions!

After the last discussion of this type, I decided to buy a CD/MP3 player with iPod input.

EBuyer had a JVC one for less than the price of the JVC iPod box alone (CD player and iPod adapter 80+VAT; iPod adapter over 100 plus VAT). As my Bongo previously had a JVC CD player in it and it was OK (but without iPod input), I knew they wre pretty good.

Came a few days ago while my Bongo was in the garage - fitting it this pm!

Cheers

Fitted! Putting it in took about 20 seconds as whoever fitted theprevious one had wired in a set of ISO connectors - just needed to unplug the old one and plug in the new one.

Took rather longer to make a hole in the plastic underneath to run the iPod lead through.

The MP3 CD is really nice even if you don't have an iPod (nicer than the 50 quid ebuyer one that I have in the other car), but the iPod adapter is GREAT. You plug the iPod in and it is powered, and the controller on the CD player controls the iPod.

Highly reommended!

Cheers

I too can vouch for the Kenwood DDX-6029. Looks smart in the dash, great looking screen, a million different connectors in the back, and remote control! Only problem is covering it up to deter theft. Unlike the Alpine double din screens, it doesn't have a rotating face (or removeable front).

On ebay for £450 though :)

I've been driving around since fitting it, just for the excuse to play with it. Works great. Would be a pain to fit if your Bongo didn't have the standard leads fitted (and looking at the patchwork of connections behind my previous unit, mine didn't when originally made), but I guess that is true of any modern car system.

"JVC PACK421. PACK CONSISTS OF THE KDC421 MP3 HEAD UNIT & KSPD100 IPOD ADAPTER WORTH £69.99" (although they actually sell the adapter alone on EBuyer for 118 quid - can't believe they sell many of them!)
