Leisure Battery
Hi Folks
I am looking to get a leisure battery purchased and installed to my Bongo. The battery would just be for running a small heater and interior lights for when a hook up isn't available.
How much wold I expect this to cost me?
Also, if anyone in the Edinburgh area wants to do it as a homer let me know.

Re: Leisure Battery
75 - 110 ah leisure batts are £50 -£90
It's the second battery tray that's another £50-80 ish
And the split charge relay set up installation £80 to buy ish + time or labour to fit
That make the price creep up

Re: Leisure Battery
Don't think a leisure battery would run a heater
Even with a solar set up your pushing it

Re: Leisure Battery
Heating of any sort from 12 volt sources is really inefficient, basically a waste of time as you will drain the battery before you get any useful heat! Think about it, 10Amps is a significant load on a battery, that yields 120 Watts (12x 10), and the battery will be flat in 5 hours (50% of battery capacity is the safe level of discharge).

Re: Leisure Battery
Afraid Gasy is right: heating is a no-no. In fact there is quite a limited amount you can do with a leisure battery though solar panels help a lot. Its worth doing some googling and reading up on how to calculate what you might be able to expect from an LB. Also, fit the biggest you can, and more expensive may be substiantially better for output and longevity.

Re: Leisure Battery
I'm fitting mine tomorrow - leisure battery cost me £70 from what I remember, battery tray + split charge relay kit cost £140 so I guess it was about £210 for me. That's if it works tomorrow!
Re: Leisure Battery
what are the best relay kits then given that Willington is no longer available. There's loads on fleabay

Re: Leisure Battery
Those with genuine Durite relays, two battery fuses and a swap loom designed for the Bongo!

I can't see the "two battery fuses" that Geoff recommends. Could be obscured in the pic.
Ebay seller karl_rooster makes up swap looms for Bongos with both battery leads fused. Not sure if he uses Durite relays.
Currently he only has this for sale on ebay but he'll make up what you ask for.
