Experience of dealers

Just wondering if anyone has bought a vehicle from japan.mpv.motors in Birmingham, and whether they would recommend them? We are about to retire our aged vehicle of 8 or so years, and want to make sure the replacement has a decent chance of being a long term family member. Many thanks for any views/experiences, and please PM if you would prefer.

Not heard of them myself but daresay anyone who has will PM views. I'm always drawn towards places like Ian Taylor, Wheelquick, Andys Imports, Discount Trucks, and JAL in Worcester etc as they all have good reputations for technical backup/warranty and have worked with Bongos for a long time.

If you search on here for "Birmingham" you will find someone who bought from them in the past.

They have the same address as the lot I bought mine from different name
Typical back street garage
Mines been no problem for 4 years
Always passed mot
No major problems just wear or tear
They did not change the cam belt and gear box oil was low
It had a very good underseal and valet
And for a fresh import it was cheaper than the rest out there by quite abit
Think I got £1000 off the asking price aswell
Yes I would buy from them again, but I'd doubly check it over
The lot I bought mine from just import ,clean ,quick service and sell them on

I bought my Bongo from the same dealer as Gasy after he gave me some pointers.
I agree with what he says but PM me if you want any more details.
Two years of trouble free motoring and two MOT passes without problem.

Thanks for your replies - are these the same dealers? Japan.mpv.motors and 1st Birmingham are near to each other and have similar stock (but not the same), but don't seem to be the same operation.

There's 3 or4 garages there
They all seem to be related or work v close together
I'd buy from them again
All there doing is importing vehicles and giving them a good clean and quick service
If you check the vehicle out shoundt be a prob
Maybe get a AA/RAC CHECK DONE THEY WONT MIND

I visited yesterday and bought a vehicle. In due course, I'll give some feedback on the vehicle itself, but on inspection it looked good, and Kamran seems like a good guy.

I'll put up some pictures when I've got it. Yes, I went 4WD, and also got an AFT, which I was prepared to forego as there aren't a lot of good 4WDs around it seems. He's doing a service and cambelt change, just trying to work out whether I should bother with a coolant alarm. Haven't had one on my current Bongo for 8 years, is it worth it?

Worth noting that the premises are like a Mad Max set, and half the world's Bongos are hidden inside. Might put some people off I suppose.

Good to hear they still have loads of bongos

As for the low coolant alarm
It's a must for £20 ( off ebay )
Not worth the risk (The hoses are 20 years old )

bought mine from 1st Birmingham Motors 4yr ago fresh import 4x4
well happy. high mileage good good body. Elvis my MOT man wants to buy it.
lots of dross there at same time and another dealer in same building.
Would not be surprised about rouges and charletons but my experience is +ve
