Dummies guide to replacing a leisure battery......

Hi all, forgive my lack of knowledge, but is replacing a leisure battery as simple as undoing the terminal clamps, removing old battery, siting new battery & replacing the terminal clamps?

I have a Northern Japan Bongo so have 2 starter batteries under the bonnet & my leisure battery is in the Mazda Kitchen cube to the rear near side, with a split charge system in place, but my old leisure battery has had it, holding no charge when engine off.

Do I need to disconnect the starter batteries before disconnecting the leisure battery? & if so in what order?

Again forgive my innocence, I am learning!

You shouldn't need to disconect starter batteries, just make sure everyting is turned off, earth off first, on last
And when you do possitive make certain the spanner doesn't touch metal, it will short.

Bob's advice to disconnect the earth (negative) first makes it safer when undoing the positive.

Personaly I always wear safety glasses when working on batteries, but it is fairly simple.

If you buy your battery from a local supplier they will likely fit it for you free, although you will pay more than sourcing one yourself.

If you're not confident Plan A may be best.

Battery ordered from Tayna, battery size etc as advised by Roger (Dodgey) who's fitting solar for me the week after next - was just thinking as I'm away this weekend, if it was straightforward enough to fit, I could get it done & be able to use my fridge!

More seriously, I'll also check the fuse in the LB feed. Not familiar with the Mazda Cube kitchen. Is it obvious, inline, tucked in a panel or some'at?

I thought i read years back the Jap Mazda cube kitchen runs coolbox etc off 110v not that this should make any difference to the battery voltage. But i'd be curious about how the battery charging system was/is wired in as i've not heard anything about how that might work before.
