Front fogs

Hello folks,
Looking at fitting some front fogs at some point and just wondered if anybody could help...
Obviously i do not have them fitted, i was curious about the wiring. I know somw vans have the wires there and it's nice and easy to fit. Just wondered if the plug for the switch is just dangling there behind the dash, or if it will be tucked away? Also, where on the dash is it normallly located, gives me somewhere to aim for! I did find one plug that looked like it had a bung in the end, but it may have been a resistor or some kind of electrickery, hard to tell! That was next to the rear demister.
Any help appreciated, cheers!

The plug for the internal switch is indeed dangling behind the dashboard, the relay won't be fitted and it seems from reports that some but maybe not all of the wiring loom around the front might be missing (or maybe wasn't spotted) from previous reports.
details of wiring plugs etc. below;

I was hoping you would reply Geoff!
Good news that it should be dangling there, i shall have a gander. Which side of the steering wheel will it be?
Cheers

Hi folks,
Can you confirm thst this is the plug?
Also, i looked for the relay and noticed thst there are none in the place on the wing, is this because my van is old? Where would i find my relays?
And lastly, the fuse box in the engine bay, there is a fuse position for fogs, which is understandably empty. But i noticed tge one marked MAIN was missing, what does this control as it sounds important! As van runs well, i assume it must have been bypassed? But would be good to know.
Many thanks in advance!

Geoff's wiring manuals are very useful

From
this page I'd say ABS pump. So you probably don't have ABS. (certainly not now

)

Yes the fuse panels are common across all the vehicles so the diesel and the petrol have differing fuse and relay combinations, as above best to look them up on the pages for your vehicle but shout if your not certain!

Thanks, I've had a look at all the fuses now, really helpful to know, thanks.
What about the relays then? They were no where to be found in the inner wing. But i assume the lights are on relays, even on the older Bongo's? I just wonder if i can connect an original fog light switch to the plug i pictured, and then route new cabling down to some aftermarket fog lights (some with DRL's in them too, to be wired up correctly of course!) It would save a fair chunk of the wiring/tidiness if i could do that and keep it looking relatively stock within the cab.
Cheers
Callum

There are positions for four relays on the inner wing let's see if I can find the picture

Hi Geoff,
As i said, and with accompanied picture, there are no relays there. I have that pic saved already, which is why i was puzzled that i don't have any relays in the position. I just wondered if they were moved if it was A) an old bongo like mine B) a twin battery thing.
Just seems odd that none are there, but they may juat have been bypassed and i shall check soo.

Oh right, never seen that before, however people have sometimes replaced relays, but that is the same for all years versions but sometimes not 4 are fitted but always a couple so odd!

Hmm, i'll have a dig around this evening perhaps if i get time. They'll be somewhere nearby i'm sure!

hi folks,
today i fitted a fuse and used my meter to determine if i have power going to the switch, which i do. so i fitted the switch, seeing as i had bought one! Illumination works too.
Had a root around in the engine bay for these relays, nowt visible on the passenger side, I did find 2 on the drivers side though. Not sure what these are for. There's 2 banks of relays in boxes between headlight and starter battery, what do these power?
The main thing for me now is that i have power going to the switch, the rest of it i can retrofit if needs be, cutting a new wire into the output of the switch. BUT, if i can get it further down the line, into the engine bay, that would be preferable.
Any more help is greatly appreciated.
Many thanks
Callum

having looked through the wiring schematics (now i'm on a computer!) i can see that all those relays are indeed meant to be there and are already accounted for, so back to square one with that one!
Again, having looked through the diagrams, the relays should come out of the loom that crosses over the front of the engine, is that correct? So, should it just be a case of following that and seeing where it ends up? Back in at work, so can't go out to look, frustratingly!

right then...
Had a few minutes so i went out and had a gander at the wires etc.
I have a 2 pin socket, nothing connected to it, attached to the drivers side headlight wiring. This would, in my readings, appear to be E2-06 in the in the diagram. True to form, if i connect the meter to the R/L wire, it pops up with 12v, permanent live.
In the drivers footwell there is an identical 2 pin socket, i read this one to be E2-05 in the diagram. if i bridge the 2 wires in E2-06 then power is applied to the R wire in that socket, but not if there isn't, so a fair assumption that these are connected.
My issue with this is that i do not know what the R/B wire in that socket will go to once it's powered up as i don't know what the symbol means in the diagram, with the circle, i'm looking for Geoff to explain that!
The switch, as i explained earlier, has power when you turn the lights on on the R/B wire, but i don't know where the R wire goes to, other than ending up at the phantom relay according to diagram. It spurs off at X-11, but i've no idea where that terminates, Geoff (HELP!)
No relay could be found, so i'm very confused to be honest.

I'm at the Bash at the moment, so only on a tablet - no flash so can't look up the diagrams - until I unpack the laptop!
