Welcome Charlotte and David to the mad world of Bongos.....
It is very wise to do as much research as possible and this forum is the ideal place to learn everything about the Bongo ( well nearly everything

)
Your idea to buy unconverted is ideal as you will find the versatility of the Bongo very useful and as there are so many different conversions that will give you time to select the one that suits your needs best if you decide to go down that route.
Your best place to research different conversions would have been the big bash at Stourport which was 3 weeks ago where our very friendly members would have been glad to show you theirs.
Good luck with your search and do not be afraid to ask questions on here even if you think it's a daft one as we all started off in the same situation as you.....we were all newbies at one time..

...and some of us longer than we care to think about...

ps....if you include your location then someone local to you would only be too glad to offer help and advice..
