Hi
Tearing my hair out on this one.. Throughout the Rev range the engine will, the only way I can describe it, resonate, I.e sounding as if the exhaust is blowing, it does this intermittently even when stationary and in neutral. I thought possibly the alternator or turbo, but cannot pin it down. Any help on this would be appreciated.
Thanks, Jim in Portland Dorset

Re: Engine resonating
Wouldn't be the heat shield on the exhaust would it?
Re: Engine resonating
Also check the clamp on the turbo, turbo hoses, particularly the one that runs in front of the engine, also check that the air filter lid is secure.Check the exhaust manifold for signs of soot or broken stud/s
If you happen to have a winter pack vehicle check the exhaust vale mechanism.
Good Luck.

Re: Engine resonating
get someone to cover the exhaust outlet with their boot, see if this changes owt. push the entire exhaust forward. sometimes it does this when the exhaust bracket to the gearbox is loose or broken.
