I want to replace the coolant in my 2.5td Bongo. What is the recommended type?

this one is good and a great price, its the correct OAT chemical makeup.

If you are currently running non-OAT antifreeze you must flush out the system thoroughly before installing OAT antifreeze because they don't mix. Draining the system alone isn't enough to clear out the old coolant, at best it'll leave 1-2 litres behind, at worst a lot more.

what would be the consequences of mixing them? Must admit I don't know what red coolant was in mine to start with and have been using the OAT one here the last couple of times I've bled and burped the system without a complete flush.

see Q8 here. I've heard it could restrict flow in narrower channels.

Though no guarantee, pink or red is usually OAT. So you are probably ok. Could confirm by checking your coolant is not cloudy. You could drain some off into a clear jar/jug using the drain valve at the bottom of the rad whilst keeping expansion tank full.
