Contact noise when turning right
Hi
I have recently noticed that when i am turning right and the gradient of the road or the intensity of the turn causes the van to lean i get a strange noise like two pieces of metal are spinning against each other. i have looked in the arches and run my hands around the wheels for any signs of contact but there appears to be none. can anybody shine a light please .
Thanks
chris

did you do the front brakes recently? I had this a while ago due to some brake pad shims and a bent piece of metal at the back of the calliper. Can't really remember exactly but there was some misalignment.chrisbearbongo wrote:Hi

No but i have recently put new wheels on it so maybe this could have caused it ?
Re: Contact noise when turning right
have you checked the nuts are tight and that the wheels are turning freely by hand?chrisbearbongo wrote:No but i have recently put new wheels on it so maybe this could have caused it ?

Re: Contact noise when turning right
And are the wheels the same as before or, say, alloys instead of steel?

Thats a good point i haven't re-tightened them yet as they were newly sprayed .
They are different in the fact they are bigger than they were origionaly.
I really appreciate the help here btw.

Re: Contact noise when turning right
thanks for the help guys i will look further into it and hopefully the nuts are the reason

Re: Contact noise when turning right
Do you still have the old wheels you could try, or maybe the spare, and see if the noise goes away?

Re: Contact noise when turning right
unfortunately i gave them away a couple of days ago
i will try tightening and have a look for any signs of rubbing around the brake components.

Re: Contact noise when turning right
If you're anywhere near me I have a couple of steels you are welcome to try.

Re: Contact noise when turning right
Hi guys just wanted to give you an update on my issues.
Firstly thanks for the offer of the steelies im in north devon but would have been doable however i am fixed now.
The issue turned out to be simply i needed new break pads on my back wheels.! what had happened was due to the pad wearing it meant a part of the housing was close to the disk so was maki9ng contact at certain angles.
I never had this previously but i have only had this bongo for 6 months as my old bongo was written off outside my house by a dirty VW transporter whilst it was parked up !! but my old model had drum brakes on the rear so i never experienced it! .
Im just glad it was fixable !
I know know however i have an oil leak which looks like its the sump seal
so its going back under the wrench next payday

Glad you're sorted, and thanks for the update.
It really is valuable to hear how an issue is resolved.

Great to get your update. I think - though i could be wrong - that all Bongo Friendees have disk brakes all round. The drum you see at the back is for the parking brake only, which does indeed use tbe old shoes/drum principle. Others will no doubt correct me if i've got this wrong.chrisbearbongo wrote:Hi guys just wanted to give you an update on my issues.
