Coolant alarm electrical fault?

Hi folks,
My coolant alarm has been sounding quietly when i push other switches, for example the rear demister. I assume this is an electrical fault as coolant is topped up and fine, just wondered what people would look at first to try and fix it?

Could be a combination of the cold weather and the battery getting a bit old.
The sensor is activated by low voltage so the surge when switching on high load accessories could do it.

Ah i see. Well, van hasn't been used much ar all in the last 10 days and it was pretty cold this morn, so that may make sense.
I shall wiggle some connections though to have a gander.
Thanks for the speedy response!

It may depend which circuit it is being powered from. As Bob says, it is voltage-dependant so heavy drain on a battery that is not quite fully charged may cause the alarm to misbehave. I wired my alarm to the screw terminals on the rear of the instrument panel which is on a circuit without any great loads to cause a problem.

When the coolant in the tank is below approx 5C the alarm will often 'mutter' quietly......once the engine has been running a few mins it should go quiet as the coolant warms up.

I have a little bit of this very occasionally (today in fact, two v short blips, and coolant was v cold) despite replacing screws. Touching the brakes usually stops it in its tracks, presumably due to brakelights though darned if i can work out the theory of why!
