Electrics - bit of a dodgy earth?

Post by sotal » Sat Feb 06, 2016 11:52 am

I fitted COB LED panels all round last year.

However the wife was complaining that the LEDs had gone, they flash on and off, or they just light dimly.

I went out to have a look and sure enough they were doing as she said (both the front and rear). However if I change the switch to on rather than door they are fine.

To me this means I've got a bit of a dodgy earth on the door sensors somewhere. I haven't had time to check yet but what got me confused was that both seemed to be linked. Surely the rear one would work through the sliding door contact thing and the front one would work off either front door? I guess it could be coincidence and both might be playing up? Just seemed unlikely.

Any ideas?

The extra moisture in the winter causes corrosion, and the contact at the switch to earth isn't the best in the world!
