ATF Replacement-later gearboxes
I'm in the process of replacing the ATF in our 2004 2 litre. The transmission sump came off with no problems along with its magnetic filter. The fact sheet states that the gauze filter and pan is held on with four bolts, mine appears to be held on with 15. Is this correct. I do not want to remove the bolts to clean the filter and end up with a load of valves and springs falling out!

Well worth the effort ... remember though ... even with the sump off, you are only doing a partial fluid change ..
The toque converter retains more fluid than the sump pan holds ..

Just wrapped it up and test drive completed. A lot smoother and better gear changes. No leaks either!

No drain plug but everything spotless before reassembly. Checking the level seems a bit hit and miss but I've put 5 litres in and the level is at the high mark with the engine idling after a 10 mile run. I may check again tomorrow after a run to the beach with the dogs.
