Removing Coolant Temperature Sensor

I need to replace the coolant temperature sensor (the one in the engine block which controls the radiator fans) but because of the plastic connector I can't get a socket on to remove it. I've tried two 'deep' sockets, neither was deep enough. I think an old fashioned spanner may work, but I'll need to remove the air intake hose first. Before I have to resort to this, has anyone any recommendations for extra deep sockets, or any other ideas!
Many thanks, Andy.

the old fashioned box spanners are good for this job as they are quite long/deep. dont break the plastic end off or make it loose they are easy to crack then the resistance values are altered.

Great idea, however the set they had in Screwfix still weren't deep enough! I ended up buying a set of their 1/2 inch drive deep sockets, which were longer than the 3/8 ones I'd already bought, and easily fit over the sensor. Thanks again, sorted eventually!
