Rev counter stops working so stuck in high revs

Post by LivingTheDream » Mon Dec 07, 2015 6:31 pm

Hi All

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

I have a P reg Bongo

When I first drive it after a couple of minutes my rev counter stops working and it feels like the bongo gets stuck in a high gear for about 5 minutes.

Then the rev counter works again and my bongo drives fine.

This happens at any speed.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

The sensor and its connections can get mucky. Also the wire runs close to the fuel pump - just in case there has been work on it recently.

as above or could signify that the alternator is failing or starting to, tape a volt meter to the terminals, out put and a good earth then run it so you can read the meter (passy seat up), when the rev counter acts up check the voltage out put. you could also check the battery and connections in the same way.
if all is ok check the engine and gearbox big earth straps under the bongo.
