Do I need to change my tyres?

Post by Mathter » Thu Oct 12, 2006 5:00 pm

Hello again,

My 4wd Bongo has all the same tyres on it - 195/70/15. Should I change the rear tyres to 195/65/15 to avoid any transmission / diff problems or will it be OK to leave tham as they are?

It's OK to have the same tyres on each corner, but not 195s. They are too narrow and will affect your road holding, especially when braking on autumn leaves.

Thanks Ian. I'm a bit surprised by your answer though! Is it just road handling 195s will affect? I say just because the Bongo handles much better in the wet than my Toyota Surf did!

Can you recommend the best size I should go for?

i presume you mean fit 215,s on the rear!it isnt just the width of the tyre but also the weight/load rating!!!
