Front anti roll bar
I've removed and repainted the front ARB.
There were the usual rubber bushes and clamps, but also there were two round rubber things around the ARB next to the bushes. These are held on by metal straps. So,
1) does anyone know what function they perform?
2) does anyone have a photo of the ARB and bushes in position, as I've forgotten which side of the bush clamps the round rubber things go !!!
Many thanks !!

pictures as dont sound normal
Re: Front anti roll bar
Could somebody have tried to enlarge the bevels on the bar for some reason? See 34-151 in http://lushprojects.com/bongopartsmk2/c ... no=.html#7

Aha !
On the diagram 34-151, you can see two rings at either end of the straight bit of the ARB. These are the rubber rings I am talking about. The rear ARB doesn't seem to have them. Could they be bump stops to prevent the bar contacting the framework behind it?
Here is a photo. The smaller ring of rubber is pictured next to the ARB clamp/bush for comparison. The metal clip to hold it on is next to it.

Doesn't look standard.
Re: Front anti roll bar
But they are shown on the schematic 34-151 so they must be. Doesn't anyone have these on their van?Simon Jones wrote:Doesn't look standard.

Re: Front anti roll bar
part 34-151 is one piece, all metal from memory. 34-155 and 33-156A are the expected bush and bracket. Can't see your extra bits on diagram! Does your bar have lumps where those extra bits were clamped?Gripped wrote:But they are shown on the schematic 34-151 so they must be. Re: Front anti roll bar
I think they are standard fitting on a lot of ARBs as stand off or buffers, the diagram actually shows them but no Part Number or item number.
PS they should be fitted to buffer end motion of the bar.

Hi
Yes, I've concluded that they are part of the ARB. They are rubber position clamps. I'll need to measure the distances on the bar to make sure I put them on in the right place.
Here are pictures of them on other vehicles:

Re: Front anti roll bar
Just a thought, and I don't wish to hijack the thread, but our Bongo is very 'rolley', generally speaking. I realise it is a bit narrow, with a high COG, but is there any sort of 'upgrade' that could be fitted to ARB's (or anything else) to stiffen things up a tad?

Yes you could check the shock absorbers/struts/springs and drop links for a start.

Had the drop links done, new wishbones etc, but must admit the shockers and springs might be worth changing..they're prob original and on 90k miles..
