Hi everyone,
My bongo has started messing around on start-up. I put in the key and turn it - all the dash lights come on and the coolant alarm sounds......when I turn it further - nothing!!!!!
If I take the key out a couple of times and try again it starts first time.
At first I thought it was a problem with the key, since my copy doesn't always unlock the doors and I thought this could be a continuation of that, but it doesn't seem to matter which key I use.....sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Any advice or ideas much appreciated.
Thanks
Jane

Thanks - I'll look there first

It might be worthwhile cleaning and tightening the battery terminals and the earth strap connection to the body also.

Good call. I got a new battery for mine after symptoms like that when I first bought it but suspected later it might have been just a loose battery terminal - doh!rita wrote:It might be worthwhile cleaning and tightening the battery terminals and the earth strap connection to the body also.

One of the starter motor kits cured my problems a few months ago but I'd go with the above advise first and check all your leads and connections before spending any money.

When mine did that a few times that recently, it was because I hadn't used it much and the times when I had used it, I'd left the lights on for several minutes each time, after I switched the engine off.
The battery was pretty drained. A long run put the charge back and sorted it.
Thank goodness for simple fixes!
Yours may have a different cause but it's worth considering.
