AFT Roof Bolt system for Rack etc

Post by cazavale » Thu May 14, 2015 10:14 am

Hi there

Having just bought roof bars for 1995 2.5L Diesel AFT Bongo we have discovered that two of the bolt holes in the roof are missing the nut/screw thread and lower bolt which the roof bars would normally screw in to. Essentially those two holes are completely empty.

Does anyone know whether these bolt hole parts are available anywhere? OR can anyone suggest a suitable alternative? We've already been in touch with George at Bongo Spares who suggested we ask here & AVA Leisure (mazdabongo.com) which we will do.

Worst case we'll fashion something ourselves, but ideally would like to replace like-for-like.

Any thoughts/ help would be appreciated!!

Thanks

SOZ don't know if the original parts are available
But if your going to stick something in the hole
Choose your glue wisely ( will be a 2 pack glue deffo , just make sure it's fine with fibreglass )
Some of the builders metal rawl plug anchor fixings
Have a perfect shaped threaded metal nut in them ( tapered on the outside with sort of ridges to stop it turning in the hole and about the correct length ,I'd imagine )
What you going to be carrying up there ?
Gas safe heating engineer / plumber if you need any advice just shout.
