haydn coolant alarm.

Post by zippy » Wed May 13, 2015 5:50 pm

My alarm came on other week and would not stop, whilst the engine is off. Cleaning the screw fixed it, and it went back to screaming as a test on engine start only.

Cleaned the screw and it went away, but now it is back.

It does turn off when the engine is running.

Has anyone got a wiring diagram for them? I have the cube type.

I'll settle for a solution

have you just had new coolant in the system
That can coat the screws for months
Check the connection to the screw in the bottle aswell
Gas safe heating engineer / plumber if you need any advice just shout.

Where are you taking the supply from: ignition-controlled circuit or leisure battery?

Have you confirmed the level of the coolant is above the screw?

Some folk have inadvertently wired it to the LB so it stays on all the time and can trigger incorrectly as it is quite voltage sensitive. It should only be powered when the ignition to ensure it does the self-test when you start up. If you get the beep / flash on startup then it's powered correctly.

You won't be able to get a circuit diagram for the alarm, but if you contact Jo she can probably send you the wiring diagram so you can trace the wires back. Contact details here: http://www.coolantalarm.co.uk/shop/inde ... oc&docId=2

Hi, No will not be at the bash, living in N Ireland at the moment until house in Somerset finished.

When this problem first happened had you just been ( or anyone else ) playing with the electrics?? If your alarm is quiet when the engine is running and sounding when engine off/ignition on then there is no fault with the alarm itself, the problem is with the supply.
Contact alarm HQ for a wiring diagram but it really is very simple........live feed from a ignition switched live.
Check the voltage between the sensor screw head and earth with ign on engine running and ign on no engine.
Also voltage across battery terminals with engine running and engine off.
If your battery is low that could be the problem.
