Bongo was poor starter only after being left overnight. Had local garage change the plugs which I supplied. The originals were in the van for five years ! It was still not starting properly but maybe a little better. Asked advice of mechanic at Bongo garage in Falkirk but he hadnt a clue. Took it to Edinburgh diesel specialist in Edinburgh and I left it with the mechanic next door who assured me that he had checked it over fully and 'did all of the tests' coming to the conclusion that it was the fuel pump which was the culprit. His mate next door could supply a rebuilt one for £400 plus fitting. Mega bucks .
Still not convinced, I eventually got Ady ( NorthernBong) to check it over and yep it was the glo plugs. The other mechs had just tested current to the plugs but Ady checked the plugs themselves - two must have been duff from new ('Blueprint' bought from Micksgarage Ebay ) Moral ? Buy only NGK and test them on a battery before fitting to be extra sure .
Ady fitted them in the middle of a storm on Sunday and I cannot thank him enough for his help - - -

Well done Ady. Scotland is a bit out of your patch isn't it?

I was down south on holiday. Also had Dave at Canons Forge fit the new gas strut to our full width Canon bed . Great upgrade, much easier to pull the frame up into the seat position.
