Lock/Cancel AFT button

Yet another newbie question would the roof lower without pressing the lock cancel button?

No.

The reason for it is so you check the roof space is clear before lowering. It then comes down half way and stops. You do not need to re-press the Lock button, just release and re-press the up/down button. :)
