TM-2 Temp sensor short?

My combi alarm temp sensor is not working.It was behaving erratically for some time but now indicates 001 permanently the instructions say this indicates either there is no connection from the sensor wire or there is a short.Is the problem confined to the sensor wire or could a short elsewhere cause this?I have not checked the security of the bolt to the block yet and I am hopeful that it may just need tightening because there is no sign of any loose or chafed wires under the dash

Sounds as though the sensor wire has been stretched and damage caused.......if you find the faulty area you can cut out the damage and rejoin the internal wires. They are very thin so great care required.
Or contact alarm HQ and arrange for a new wire to be fitted.

If you are handy with a soldering iron you could do this yourself by either shortening the damaged wire or fitting a new one.

If the bolt was loose you would still get a steady reading.

I think a break in the lead is most likely down to how I've routed it into the dash but finding the break would be difficult as also rejoining and soldering?Is the lead soldered into the display unit or screwed in?I would think replacing the lead would be the way to go.Easy job?How much would it be for a new lead?

The leads are soldered on to the PCB but the chances of the break being at the dispay end is pretty slim so you could cut it just outside the case and rejoin it with a connector block. The cable is screened but quite easy to cut and rejoin.

Thanks to Jo sending me a new lead F.O.C by rapid post the temp unit is back working perfect.I have however pulled a lead off the clock(red/orange)which I think is the permanent live?Anyhow clock don't work without this lead and it is not obvious where I originally connected it to.Can you tell me where the lead goes does it join onto the temp sensor wiring ?Please clarify as electrics are not my thing although I wired it up O.K.originally.

You need to connect that wire to permanent live......there will be one going to your radio.....nothing to do with the temp sensor unit wiring
