Access to lights on rear tailgate (newer facelifted bongos)

Post by tigger » Fri Jul 11, 2014 4:36 pm

Could some kind person please tell me how I get at the bulbs in the tailgate-mounted light clusters which feature on the newer 'facelifted' Bongo? The main rear light clusters are easy to get into, but I can't see any obvious way to get into these ones so a bit of info would be handy before I start tearing the tailgate apart...

Thanks
Dom

Has a bulb actually blown? There are only two in there for sidelights: the other 'lights' are just for show.

Actually no (I don't think anyway). But there's some water in it. My plan was to open in and remove the water, then try to seal it up a bit better, maybe after putting LED bulbs in if the nature of the seal was a bit on the 'permanent' side (ie using sealant).

So I went to have a look at doing so, only to conclude that rather than being a 5 minute job it would involve tearing the rear end of the car apart. And so it seems...

Mine has water in too on the offside clear section (without a bulb). It's on the 'to do' list to drill a tiny hole from the rear to allow it to drain away. Good opportunity to squirt some Waxoyl inside the tailgate.
