Help please - I have a leaky tyre valve, I went to kwik fit and they told me that they couldn't fix/replace it with a metal valve - only a plastic one, and also that they didn't know if this was the proper thing to do, and couldn't guarantee what the were doing. A lot of help they were!
Any suggestions about what I can do, or who I can go to for this one would be appreciated..
Cheers
Stu

Re: Leaky tyre valve
Some Japanese alloys have different valves not readily available in uk tyre shops

Re: Leaky tyre valve
Kwikfit are possibly not the best place for this.
Try a traditional tyre place.
If you are really stuck I might have a spare valve assembly I removed from my old wheels

Re: Leaky tyre valve
(Not my Bongo but the other motor I have) Are you 100pct it's the valve? I have had tyres that gradually deflate over 1-2 months making you think there is a slow puncture. I took it to a tyre place and sometimes old wheel rims have gum and dirt on the and the guy cleans them up properly with a wire brush. After that no such problems until of course new tyres and the problem it back !
They call me light foot.
Re: Leaky tyre valve
I've read that these valves are screw in - could it be case that I just need to tighten it up??
Re: Leaky tyre valve
Don't think there screw in
I thought some of them were like nut and bolts with the valve being the bolt
Which bit of valve is leaking
Can you not put a new inner in it
I've read on her people can get them

Re: Leaky tyre valve
The valve does not screw in, the wheel has a clearance hole the valve body is pushed through with a nutwasher on inside (rubber washer inside and out) Strangely enough it was a Quick fit fitter that recognised the problem

Re: Leaky tyre valve
I think kwik fit confirmed it was an issue with the valve.
So an new inner would come with a new valve - guess that's worth a try.
Thanks for all your help guys, I do appreciate you being so helpful..
