Hi all
I know this subject has been covered a few times but I just have a couple of questions.... Firstly I notice the red lights on the dash dim when I press the roof raise button, and that's in any gear.. So I'm wondering if there is a gear P position switch,.. Also if the motors are stalled then I thought that's what the fuses are for.. To prevent excessive current draw.....all fuses are good... Handbrake switch good....only thing I can think of to do now is go in search of the roof control panel and try putting 12v directly onto the motor using a spare battery I have.....is there anyone with an English version of the control box with the wire colours to the motors. If the struts are stuck and the motors stalled, then I'm in the situation where I need to look at the motors but there in the roof ... Which can only be opened using the motors....I may now have a tin top!!

Any help would be much appreciated
Glenn

Is the handbrake on there's a switch for roof activated when handbrake on
Check that switch
Remove centre consol thing
Engine running when trying to raise roof
Give it a little help from inside to raise up
Gas safe heating engineer / plumber if you need any advice just shout.

The handbrake switch is OK but I'm not sure if there's a park switch for the gear knob....or does it not have to be in park for the roof to raise?

Defo does not need to be in P to raise the roof - I have in the past been known to show off to lesser german campervans at festivals etc by raising the roof as I drive onto the pitch (handbrake on one click), and jump out with beer in hand.

If the dashboard lights are dimming then either the battery is very low, you should be running the engine anyway during roof operations, or the motors are stalling - the fuses shouldn't blow they are there to protect the wiring not the motors! You can get at the 4 pin plug which connects the motors to the control module behind the offside rear pillar by the rear door, circuit info available on the On-Line diagrams here;

click the Orange box for module details.
