Does anybody recognise this module, if so where is it physically located and any idea of which year it might be from ?

Looks like the one in the sliding door.

That was the only location I could come up with, trouble is the board has been glued into the case and I can't see a way of getting it out without destroying the case at present :-( However there isn't much info on the wiring diagrams to confirm it. Didn't want to do that and then find it wasn't anything relevant!

Right all I have to sort now is how to release the darn glue, Evostick-like, from the grooves which the board slides into within the case - anybody have any suggestions ?

Would this be any use?

Have not tried it myself but may be worth a go?

Yea excellent stuff, works very well indeed, after dripping the solvent down the edges of the board for about an hour it softened the glue sufficiently to be pulled from the case.

Now to reverse engineer the board!

Doesn't look too bad - if you can read the IC's - but what does it do? there is a fair chance whatever it does can be done with a lot less - lots of electonics are built with ease of manufacture and component sourcing in mind, not efficiency of design.

It controls the sliding door closure mechanism, and child lock! For that there is a dual relay and an 8-bit micro and a couple of other bits of glue logic plus a few transistors. It is indeed overkill but for something designed 15 years ago not that surprising and as you say they are reusing parts from other vehicles and minimising the number of different components.

Found the part number on a German site (cost 200 Euros) just describes it as a power unit!!!! Recentlu found a company that can repair PCBs - ok they did my dishwasher PCB lol

I'm slowly working thru all the modules I can lay my hands on to include the circuit details in the Bongo Wiring Manuals, as in time the modules will I suspect become unavailable. It won't mean we can repair everything but where its basic components that have failed then provided we know the values before they loose there magic smoke we should be able to replace them ;-)
I've done the AFT module and just completed the Door Locks Relay and Timer module, the next one is the one above.
